To provide a safe and nurturing environment while promoting the physical, social, emotional, and
intellectual
development of young children of all cultural and economic backgrounds.
At Civic League, we believe that children need a safe, healthy and loving environment where they can learn by discovering life for themselves.   Our teachers gently guide children through this ongoing process by filling each day with stimulating experiences and opportunities for interpersonal relationships.  Civic League Day Nursery has been caring for children since 1930, when it was founded to meet the needs of working parents.

The Southwest Center is the larger of the two locations and houses the administrative body.  This site is located in the house that was
formerly owned by Dr. Donald Balfour and his family, and is on the National Historic Registry.  Civic League Day Nursery moved into the Balfour House in 1975 from their previous location.  Our children's classrooms are set up throughout the entire house; and our staff work hard at maintaining its charm and character.  The house is rich in historic detail with original fixtures, stained glass windows and crafted design.

Civic League's Southeast Center is located on the Rochester Community & Technical College's campus.  This Center houses two classrooms; Little Friends and Big Friends, and has been around since the 90's primarily serving the families of students and faculty of RCTC.
